The longest-enduring standardized college admissions test in the nation, the SAT has faced decades of controversy over bias and criticism for reducing aspiring college students to a test score. Discrepancies with standardized testing appear to be symptomatic of the inequality endemic to the education system. In 2005, the College Board added an 800-point writing section to the exam alongside its math and verbal reasoning sections. In this Jan. 17, 2016 file photo, a sign is seen at the entrance to a hall for a college test preparation class in Bethesda, Md. Donald Trump has to cut a fat check, and his appeal of the E. Jean Carroll verdict won't delay that. While he appeals the verdict, Carroll can't touch that money — but neither can Trump. Here, as an example, is the judgment Kaplan issued after last year's Carroll verdict, the one that ordered he pay $5 million in damages. Last time around, for the $5 million verdict, Trump went with cash. The premium is money Trump would never see again, according to a surety executive who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The sale caps years of ups and downs for Blue Apron, once a leader in at-home meal deliveries. In recent months, the company has transitioned to become a more asset-light business, selling its operational infrastructure to California-based meal provider FreshRealm for $50 million and laying off significant swaths of its workforce. The first Republican presidential debate is scheduled for August 23, 2023, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Without Trump at the debate, seven other candidates are set to make their cases for the White House. Here's a look at how the debate is coming together, as the GOP candidates had to meet a set of criteria to even appear onstage. Christie, once a close ally of Trump, has consistently been the fiercest critic of the former president in the GOP race. Suarez, should he make it onstage, will likely just focus on boosting his profile to GOP voters beyond South Florida.

WASHINGTON — New Hampshire Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan won re-election Tuesday, NBC News projects, defeating Republican Don Bolduc and keeping a critical seat in Democratic hands. While the race attracted less attention than some others, Hassan won her Senate seat six years ago in one of the closest races in the country, and Democrats had grown increasingly nervous in recent weeks as Bolduc seemed to gain strength in polls. After winning the nomination, however, he waffled on 2020, saying the election had not been stolen. Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan at a campaign event on Sept. 10 in Dover, N.H.
